ABOUT JAN BALILES, ATTORNEY AT LAW

Jan has lived in Asheville since 1983. She started her solo practice that year. Jan first devoted much of her time to handling real estate transactions for both sellers and purchasers as well as operating a general practice that covered a variety of legal areas. In the early years of her practice she gave legal counsel to many self employed individuals. Around the year 2000, Jan began to devote more of her practice to the areas of estate planning and probate law. She also began to focus on a variety of elder law issues at that time. Since the beginning of her practice Jan has also enjoyed helping couples involved in private adoption, grandparent adoption, and stepparent adoption. Adoption law has allowed Jan to enjoy getting to know and serve families with children during an important time of their lives. Jan has been happy to have had the privilege of continuing to serve many of her clients over the years on various legal matters when needed as well as getting to serve their friends and family members when they were referred to her.

Jan attended Western Carolina University and graduated in 1978 with a business degree and a concentration in accounting.
